"SILVER LININGS PLAY BOOK" NEXT FOR LIBRARY BOOK TALK

Matthew Quick's Debut Novel Set for April 24th

The Stratford Library “Books Over Coffee” program continues its 2013 winter/spring series with a discussion of Mathew Quick’s debut novel, The Silver Linings Playbook on Wednesday, April 24th at noon. “Books Over Coffee” is hosted by Stratford educator and author Kathleen Faggella.

Pat People’s has a theory: his life is a movie produced by God. And his God-given mission is to become physically fit and emotionally literate, whereupon God will ensure him a happy ending—the return of his estranged wife, Nikki. (It might not come as a surprise to learn that Pat has spent several years in a mental health facility.) The problem is Pat is now home and everything feels off. No one will talk to him about Nikki; his beloved Philadelphia Eagles keep losing; he’s being pursued by the deeply odd Tiffany and his new therapist seems to recommend adultery as a form of therapy. The Silver Linings Playbook is a heartwarming and funny novel that is also the basis of the current Oscar-winning film starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence.

Books Over Coffee” will be held in the Stratford Library’s Lovell Room beginning at noon on April 24th. Participants are invited to bring a bag lunch to the program and coffee and tea is also served.  Limited reading copies of The Silver Linings Playbook are currently available for loan at the library’s Circulation Desk.  All “Books Over Coffee” titles are also available on Kindle and Nook eReaders for loan at the library.
