Since its founding in 1977, a mere eight years after Yale first accepted women, Something Extra has represented the finest that Yale a cappella has to offer. Something Extra has maintained a prestigious reputation for advanced musicality, diverse repertoire, and talented soloists. Fondly known as “SE,” the group enjoys a strong following on campus and beyond.
Something Extra has performed at a wide array of venues including, but certainly not limited to, elementary schools, retirement communities, libraries, restaurants, museums, hotels, private parties, and convention centers. Whether dressed to the nines in black evening gowns and the trademark red gloves or fashioned for fun in the SE t-shirt and jeans, the group is always prepared to deliver a concert that is sure to excite, entertain, and add a little “something extra” to any event.
Something Extra’s music is generally arranged by members of the group, many of whom have had significant training in music theory. Our repertoire spans a variety of genres and styles, giving our audiences options for whatever they believe will fit their venue. For the Stratford Library, the group promises an array of "girl group" music from the 1960s.
"GetBackNY" is one of the East Coast's foremost Beatles tribute bands.
Originally formed as "The Mersey Beat," three members branched off into "MerseyBeatMania," before renaming the act "GetBackNY." All members of the band hail from New York aside from drummer Mike Streeto, a Connecticut native who has portrayed Ringo around the world in such shows as "Fab FourEver," The Hoffners," "Yesterday The Tribute" and with The Cast of "Beatlemania."
Travel back in time to the Ed Sullivan Show, the British Invasion and The Beatles at Shea Stadium as "GetBackNY" recreates the Fab Four circa 1964-1966, when John, Paul, George and Ringo toured and ruled the airwaves.
Twist and Shout with "GetBackNY" in a show for all ages, guaranteed to raise a smile.
Click here to listen to the WPKN interview this past Friday of Mike Streeto as "Ringo" in GetBackNY. He is one of the members of the Beatles tribute band that will be performing at the annual Stratford Library fundraiser this Saturday, April 27. "RIngo" was great.
